There have been many associations and correlations made between vision problems (not those remediable by corrective lenses) and learning disabilities. Vision therapy is meant to correct a variety of visual-motor and cognitive and perception issues which can have a severe impact on a person's ability to learn. Such problems, and their impact on a child's ability to learn, can masquerade as various learning disabilities such as ADHD and dyslexia.

It is estimated by some that as many as 20% of all children have some vision disorders that affect their ability to learn. The number among chldren that have other learning disabilities is estimated to be much higher!

If you suspect that your child may have a learning disability enhanced or even created by a vision problem, it would be wise to consult a doctor or therapist that offers vision therapy and vision training.
