  1. Struggling in school. Including Difficulty with one of more of the following: Learning to Read; Reading Comprehension; Written Expression; Spelling; Learning Math Facts; Math Calculations; Concepts and Applications; Oral Expression; Memory/Retrieval; Test Taking; Following Directions; Listening; Staying on task; Finishing Work within Time Allotment; Planning, Organizing, Executing)
  2. Needing independent school admission testing or further testing to appeal gifted and talented placement denial (WPPSI-III/WISC-IV)
  3. Identified college bound student needing a current evaluation for the purposes of applying for University and/or College Board (SAT/ACT) accommodations

Dr. Muir has the primary goal to help your child succeed in school. She has experience teaching in public and private, regular and special education settings, PreK-12, in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Additionally Dr. Muir has experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses at Colorado State University, George Mason University and The George Washington University preparing teachers to meet the specific learning needs of their students. Dr. Muir has been recognized for her teaching, and awarded grants and published papers about what works for students with special learning needs.

Parents can be assured that Dr. Muir will provide professional service with personal attention in a timely manner. Dr. Muir works in collaboration with a clinical psychologist during the interpretation and analysis of results; they both sign off on reports. Recommendations include specific websites and books for parents, support services and list of providers for students, and concrete suggestions for school implementation to increase maximum learning potential.
