I can help your child discover academic success
NYC Learning Specialist

  • Masters in General and Special Education from Bank Street College
  • Masters in Social Work from Columbia University
  • Work with students on reading, writing, basic math, test preparation, and study skills
  • Create individualized, goal oriented programs
  • Use a multi-sensory approach when appropriate
  • Students with all learning styles welcome

My background is in Education and Social Work so I take a holistic approach to working with young people and their families. I work mostly with children in 3rd through 9th grade who have difficulty with reading, writing, attention, and organization.

Whether your child is transitioning to middle school, or getting more difficult assignments and projects at school, I can help manage these new challenges. If your child requires skill based instruction or remediation I can create an individualized plan to reinforce existing skills and build new ones.

Sessions can be held in Downtown Manhattan in your home, your child's school, a library, or my office in the Financial District any day of the week during the school year. Some summer hours available.

Some areas that your child may need support with:

  • Reading (comprehension, fluency, phonics)
  • Writing (planning, elaborating, organizing, revising, editing)
  • Spelling and vocabulary development
  • Basic math skills
  • Test taking strategies
  • Note taking skills
  • Organization and study skills
  • Standardized test preparation such as ERB, ISEE, SSAT
In my work with your child I will:
  • Provide a variety of diagnostic and on-going assessments
  • Create customized, goal oriented individualized learning plans based on your child's needs
  • Highlight your child's strengths and improve performance
  • Successfully assist students with all learning styles in mastering skills
  • Use a variety of research-based interventions when appropriate through the Wilson Reading System and Orton Gillingham
  • Develop trusted relationships with children, families, and schools

Please contact me at 917-488-6966 or judith@judithmack.com for more information and to get your child on the road to academic success.
