Learning Specialist
Serving Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia

Dr. Rose Halper has experience working with children with a variety of special needs such as dyslexia and ADHD. She specializes in working with elementary school children who are experiencing difficulty in learning to read and write. She combines creativity with multi-sensory approaches to learning, such as the Wilson Reading Program, the Linda-mood Bell Reading and Writing Pogram®, and PhonographixTM. Additionally, Dr. Halper uses strategies to improve attention, memory and planning and organization.

Dr. Halper recognizes that each child is different. She listens to what parents and teachers have to say, observes the child in class, and evaluates his level of academic achievement. Based on what she hears and sees, she develops an individualized program to help her students progress as quickly as possible.

Dr. Halper encourages parents to focus on solutions. The most important question to ask is "How can we help the child?" It is essential to look ahead and seek opportunities to assure success.

Dr. Halper received her PhD in Human Development from the University of Maryland, and has a Master's Degree in Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has been involved with children in educational settings for over twenty years, starting out as resource room teacher in Montgomery County. Later, she became involved with special needs children attending private school. Now she is a learning specialist and works in private schools and in her Takoma Park office.
