Families Helping Families
is a resource center that promotes the concept of well-informed and
assertive parents
who seek out local, state, and federal resources for the services their
child with special needs is entitled to receive.
Staffed by trained parents who are sensitive to the on-going social, health, education, financial, and community needs of families with special needs. Free training, workshops, and literature for parents and consumers addressing such issues as SSI, parenting, children at risk, communication skills, education legislation, and Medicaid. Information and referral services, including disability-specific research and support-group networking. Use of lending library books, videotapes, and audiotapes. Free subscription to the PROMPTer quarterly newsletter. |
