Educational Testing, Consulting, & Advocacy for Children and Teens in the Washington DC Metro Area

Our team collaborates to help parents and schools understand the individual learning profile of a child. The J. Hursey team includes Jennifer Hursey, M. Ed and certified teacher, Sally Madden, PhD and clinical psychologist, and Julie Hursey certified Reading Specialist

We use a unique testing procedure that sets us apart from all other evaluators in the area. Parents walk away from the evaluation process truly understanding their child's strengths, weaknesses, attitudes and beliefs about learning, behaviors, and current levels of achievement. Our thorough reports present scores, interpretations, and observations in an organized and understandable way.

We also offer a Special Summer Reading Program: This program is like no other in the DC area. It offers individualized and small group instruction to get kids ready to be successful readers in first grade. Tuition includes 15 two-hour small group sessions (no more than 5 kids), an initial evaluation of the child’s reading level, two parent breakfasts (where students will share with parents what they have been working on in the group), homework notebook/materials, and a final evaluation and summary report. The program is based on the latest reading research and will be taught by a Masters level special education teacher in collaboration with a certified reading specialist.
