My philosophy is to consult with the parents, review the documentation, assemble the facts and evidence, explain the law and my opinion of its impact upon the facts and then, to create a strategic action plan. During a typical consultation, we:
- Review the facts and records that you have;
- Prepare a list of additional documents and/or evaluations are needed;
- Explain the law and how it impacts on your child’s situation;
- Review letters to the School District about the problem;
- Explain how the State and/or Federal laws may be able to assist you with your child;
- Explain the process of Classification and Eligibility for Special Services and why you should not be afraid of that process;
- Create a strategic action plan with clear goals and outcomes; and
- Discuss the process fees.
I am admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey. I am a sole practitioner who has been practicing law for over 20 years. During the past 10 years, I have represented more than 100 parents in their struggles against school districts and State agencies. These children had presenting conditions ranging from pervasive developmental disorder (autism and Aspergers), learning disabled youngsters, up to emotionally disturbed, ADHD, non verbal learning disability and substance and alcohol abuse.
I have weekend and evening appointments. I charge a consultation fee based on the number of hours. I wish you the best of luck in your struggles. If you have any questions, please call my office or e-mail me at cageronimolaw@yahoo.com.
