Bridging the Gap / Recovering Your Future

The Bridge at The Family Foundation School is a 5th year program designed for students ages 18-20 who are struggling to meet the challenges of transitioning from high school to college and are looking for a second chance to rehabilitate themselves academically and socially. The therapeutic program offers the integrated milieu of services that the Family Foundation School is nationally renowned for, which includes the 12 Step program of recovery combined with individual and family counseling.

Program Support:

The academic component of the program includes a challenging 5th year personalized program in which students will have completed a full year of accredited college courses, which include a semester of courses taken on a college campus. Students will also have the opportunity to secure a work study position of employment at the school in order to acquire important job skills for the rest of their lives. A complete program of therapeutic, academic and life-skill support will equip each student as they transition into their adult lives.

The Program offers different opportunities to students, depending on their needs and interests:

  • Live on campus, take college level courses and all current academic and therapeutic supports
  • Live on campus, attend classes at Broome Community College (BCC) and work with a life mentor, who will also be transporting students to and from FFS, provide practical support on both campuses.
  • Live in community in/near Binghamton, attend college and receive independent, transitional living support
