My focus is on helping families find appropriate, safe, and effective out-of-home placements for children and teens whose needs are not being met in traditional settings. I help families choose appropriate:

• Private boarding schools
• Therapeutic programs
• Wilderness programs
• Schools for students with learning disabilities
• Drug and alcohol programs
• Programs for young adults (drug and alcohol or transitional living)

A "Struggling" child or teenager might display any of the following:

• Special educational needs that are not being met (e.g., ADHD)
• A need for structure and discipline to learn better habits and skills
• Behavior and or/emotional problems
• A struggle with psychiatric illness, eating disorders, or psychoses
• A battle with drug or alcohol abuse
• A struggle with the legal system

Families in my practice have typically exhausted all local resources. Their children's needs go beyond the abilities of traditional therapists, teachers, and/or psychiatrists. And the whole family, as well as the child, suffers.
