CIP Amherst provides young adults with Asperger's Syndrome, High-Functioning Autism, ADHD, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities and other Learning Differences with the individualized social, academic, career and life skills necessary for success at college, careers and independent living. Our mission is to inspire independence and expand the foundation on which young adults can build happy and productive lives.

Program Overview
Students attend college or take part in career development classes along with comprehensive social, academic, career and life skills curriculum.

Year-round programs located in Massachusetts, Florida, Indiana, California and New York.

Two-week teen summer programs on college and university campuses in the US.

CIP curriculum is based on our Professional Advisory Board Members work and focuses on developing real life skills in areas of social thinking, executive functioning, sensory processing and wellness.

Actively involved in the direction of their lives, students create Person-Centered Plans focusing on short and long-term goal setting, developing self-advocacy skills and outlining the steps necessary for success.

Residential apartment living support includes organization, recreation, planning and time management, food shopping, menu planning, cooking and cleaning instruction.

Advisors work individually with students on banking and budgeting, weekly goal setting, self-assessments, personal advising and communication with parents.

On-call night and 24/7 emergency assistance from live-in night staff

Who We Serve

  • Documented diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome, high-functioning autism, nonverbal learning disability, PDDNOS,
  • ADHD, dyslexia or other learning differences
  • Full scale IQ from 75 and up
  • Emotional, behavioral, and psychological stability
  • High level of motivation to meet program goals
  • Potential to live and attend college or career program independently
  • Ages 18 to 26 years old

With its convenient access to nearby locations such as Downtown Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Lake Erie's beaches, Toronto and Ontario (Canada), it is easy for our students to enjoy indoor and outdoor activities, no matter the season. CIP Amherst is just a bus or rail ride away from festivals, art shows and swimming in the summer; hiking, camping and amazing foliage in the fall; skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing during the winter.
